Osmani: Neighbours Should be Engine, Not the Brake in EU Integration Process

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani, participated in a video conference dedicated to the Western Balkans after 2020 – actions and decisions in a time of pandemic. Osmani addressed the panel on the EU accession process and the political, economic and social transformation of the region. In his speech, Osmani spoke about the efforts of the country in the European integration process, as well as its expectations for timely adoption of the Negotiating Framework, guided by the principles of the new methodology in the negotiation process. “I urge our European friends to recognize the momentum and not miss the chance to finalize the end of the year as it started. I want our neighbours to be the engine, not the brake in our integration process and to jointly enjoy the benefits of the political, economic and social transformation of the Region,” Osmani said. The event was organized by the European Liberal Forum, supported by the Foundation for Liberal Integration and co-financed by the European Parliament. The conference was opened by the Member of the European Parliament and the Rapporteur for the Republic of Macedonia, Ilhan Kyuchyuk, and was addressed by the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi.
