Extortion Case: Janeva and Jovanovski to Remain in Prison

The Supreme Court has confirmed the verdicts in which former Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva and Bojan Jovanovski were sentenced to seven and nine years in prison, respectively, in the Extortion case. On Wednesday, the requests for extraordinary re-examination of the effective verdict were rejected. The defendants said there had been substantial violations of the procedure, which was why the case should be returned to a repeated decision-making procedure. In the case, Jovanovski is convicted of receiving a reward for unlawful influence and for money laundering, while Janeva is convicted of abuse of official position and authority in the attempt by them to save businessperson Orce Kamcev from criminal prosecution in the Empire case.
