Joveski: “Monster” Case Retrial Removes Suspicions of Rigged Trial

Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski believes that the repeated procedure in the “Monster” case removed the suspicions of a rigged trial and that the most important thing is that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are accused on the basis of indisputable and solid evidence in legal proceedings. “First of all, I would like to say that the public perception that the verdict was revoked only due to the possible existence of wiretapped conversations is wrong. Following the defendants’ appeal, the Supreme Court found that the validity of the decisive facts was seriously questioned and pointed out that during the retrial it was necessary to reconstruct the event and from the point of view of the testimony of the endangered witness,” said Joveski in an interview with “Deutsche Welle“. Joveski also talks about the “Public Room” case. According to him, amendments to the Criminal Code are needed in this regard, or more precisely, it is necessary for the legislation to follow the modern development, but also to develop cooperation with the competent foreign authorities.
