Osmani Calls for End to Military Activity in Ukraine

Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani informed that he had a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the country, Natalia Zadorozhnyuk, but he did not met and for now does not plan to meet with Ambassador of Russia, Sergei Bazdnikin. Osmani called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and for them to sit down at a table in order to overcome this situation through political dialogue and diplomatic means, which, as he stressed, first has a direct destructive activity for the people of Ukraine, but also for the citizens of Russia, and it can have far-reaching consequences across the continent and around the world. “We condemned this Russian aggression in Ukraine, considering it as a violation of the international legal order, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state’s independence, the right of independent states to determine their own foreign policy priorities. Yesterday we joined the EU sanctions against Russia, but we also joined all the restrictive measures that the EU has introduced since 2014 when Crimea was annexed, in order to deter Russia from continuing this military conflict,” said Foreign Minister Osmani. “North Macedonia is not under a direct security threat from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but in the Balkans as the weakest point of the EU there may be attempts by foreign political or regional factors to use the chaos to achieve their goals,” he adds. The country as a NATO member receives all the information in real time, according to Osmani, and Moscow’s steps were known to them two weeks previously, which, according to him, helped to make well-informed decisions and prepare for any consequences.
