The European Commission Spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic said in a press conference that EC reminds all political actors in Macedonia that the freedom of the media is very important for the EU. “Even though our report for 2018 for Macedonia noted progress in the freedom of media, there should be no tolerance for physical or verbal harassment over media employees. It is very important for the EU for journalists to do their job properly and to not be obstructed in that. We also expect that the authorities in Skopje will resolve the case with possible abuse of authority for manipulations with the pension system,” Kocijancic said. This announcement of EC follows the threats for lawsuits against politicians and media by Vice-PM for European Affairs Bujar Osmani related to the Pension Fund scandal revealed few days ago by Labour and Social Policy Minister Mila Carovska.
