Deal on procedure Related to Gruevski’s MP mandate Still not reached

Nikola Gruevski will no longer be MP, but it remains unknown whether his mandate will be taken away by voting or by PS Talat Xhaferi simply accepting the resignation. Government and opposition members failed to reach a deal on Monday. According to 24 TV information, before Tuesday’s session, there will be another attempt to reach a deal. The opposition’s arguments are that Xhaferi has accepted eight MP resignations since the start of the current composition’s term, including the one of current President Stevo Pendarovski. As its members add, none of those eight persons appeared at the session for their mandate. The government’s representatives say the PS should act in accordance with the Rulebook and with the Electoral Code and, since Gruevski isn’t personally present, put the conclusion from the Mandatory Issues Committee up for debate.
