The Deputy PM and Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski signed on behalf of Macedonia in Brussels the Joint Action Plan on Counter-Terrorism, along with the European Commissioner on Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos. “North Macedonia at the moment is not facing any terroristic threats. However, its strategic geographic position in the region poses a security challenge. This agreement with the European Commission will result with implementation of new measures which will improve the capacities for struggle against terrorism,” Spasovski said. Avramopoulos said that the agreement is signed in a rather strategically important period for North Macedonia, accenting the importance of strengthening of the national capacities of the countries candidates for EU membership in the struggle against terrorism and violent extremism. Avramopoulos also said that the EC is ready to provide assistance to Macedonia in the implementation of these measures.
