Zaev and Mickoski Refuse Ahmeti’s Idea of Albanian PM

The two largest Macedonian parties have resolutely turned their backs on DUI for the idea of an Albanian PM. After Zaev, last night the President of VMRO-DPMNE Hristijan Mickoski, while answering a journalist’s question, said that the people decide who will head the Government and that his party’s candidate for prime minister is he himself. Earlier, SDSM leader Zoran Zaev stressed that citizens have the last word and rejected Ahmeti’s request, assessing that it is a populist step, sown with nationalism. Apart from Mickoski and Zaev, the idea met with fierce criticism from opposition parties on the Albanian campus, who described it as unrealistic and an attempt to manipulate voters. DUI has launched the campaign for the Albanian Prime Minister as a major election promise, hoping that their MPs will be decisive for the majority in the next Parliament. The exact name of the candidate for Prime Minister is still unknown, and the owner of the company Ecologist, businessman Lazim Destani, whose name is mentioned these days, said on Facebook that he has no political ambitions.
