Xhaferi: Inquiry Committee into Tetovo Fire After Investigation Completes

Parliament Speaker, Talat Xhaferi believes that the proposal to establish an Inquiry Committee into the fire in the modular hospital in Tetovo is premature. According to him, an Inquiry Committee can be formed after the work of the investigative and judicial bodies is completed. “The Inquiry Committee cannot review issues that are within the competence of the investigative and judicial bodies. Usually, the previous committees, such as those for the Gostivar and Sopot events, were formed post-festum. According to the Rules of Procedure, Parliament has no judicial or investigative powers. The investigation continues and when there is a conclusion from the competent institutions, then the Parliament can be involved through an Inquiry Commission to confirm or reject the findings of these bodies,” Xhaferi said after the meeting with the media.
