SYRIZA Criticises Greek Government over Memoranda Issue

SYRIZA has criticised the Greek Government, saying that, instead of sending a clear message of support to the Prespa Agreement, it boasts that it’s allegedly justified that it has been undermining the deal for two years by not ratifying the memoranda. The Greek opposition party’s press-release is a response to the comments made by Greek Government Spokesperson Yiannis Oikonomou regarding the memoranda. As SYRIZA adds, the Greek Government does so in a period of destabilsiation of the Government of Zoran Zaev in Skopje, which accepted the name change, while VMRO-DPMNE is threatening to return the name “Macedonia”, without the adjective, and irredentism. According to former Greek Ambassador in Skopje Alexandros Mallias, the current situation in North Macedonia is a result also of the failure of some EU countries to green-light accession negotiations.
