Kovacevski: We Take Measures Over Suspicious Contacts to Bulgaria

Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski said on Monday that the government is taking all measures necessary to handle the case revealed by Foreign Affairs Minister Bujar Osmani, that certain employees and officials from some of the institutions of the state contacted Bulgarian institutions in order to convince them to halt the negotiations with North Macedonia over their bilateral disputes. “We are nourishing excellent relations with Bulgaria, ever since the new governments in both countries assumed offices. We hold open meetings in very positive and constructive atmosphere, and we hope we can reach agreement over the issues that are troubling our integration in the EU. We reacted the very first day we were notified about these suspicious activities. At the same time, Bulgarian PM Kiril Petkov also informed of similar activities in Bulgaria, i.e. as he said, agents influenced by Russian centres of power who worked on jeopardising our bilateral relations and delay of our integration in EU. I cannot reveal any further details for now,” Kovacevski said.
