Rama: EU Policy Determined by National Egoism

In an interview with the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama assesses that EU policy is increasingly determined by national egoism, for which ‘the best example is Bulgaria’s opposition to North Macedonia’. “EU policy is increasingly determined by national selfishness. It matters less and less what you do and more and more how others feel when they make a decision. And there is always room to object. The Bulgarian position on North Macedonia is the most open example. The Dutch know how to gently “kill” you, but from the Bulgarians, that is not a gentle death,” says Rama.
