VMRO-DPMNE Executive Committee Adopts Referendum Question

At a session on Monday, VMRO-DPMNE’s Executive Committee decided to adopt a referendum question. Citizens answering will say whether they are in favour of abandonment of the Law on Ratification of the Treaty on Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness, and Cooperation between Skopje and Sofia. At a press-conference, opposition leader Hristijan Mickoski said he supported EU integration, but he didn’t support assimilation and defacing from an identity standpoint. “Next week, we will collect at least 100 qualified signatures to submit the initiative to Parliament. After the approval, the deadlines to collect signatures for a compulsory referendum will start. The referendum question will concern the deal with Bulgaria signed by ex-PM Zoran Zaev. That’s the basis of the problem,” Mickoski noted, urging the Government to allow citizens to voice a stand. VMRO-DPMNE will call on citizens to vote in favour.
