The Foreign Minister of Macedonia Nikola Dimitrov presented on Tuesday before the group of MEPS “Friends of Macedonia” the current progress of the government in the implementation of the Prespa Agreement. Dimitrov reiterated the strong dedication of the Macedonian government to proceed with the implementation of all necessary reforms and secure its integration in NATO and EU, and said that the most important thing now is to maintain the course to secure the start of accession negotiations with the EU in June 2019. In Brussels, Dimitrov also met the Greek Alternative Minister of Foreign Affairs Georgios Katrougalos. “Dimitrov and I spoke about the recent statements made by Macedonian PM Zoran Zaev concerning he Macedonian language and the possibility for it to be taught in Greece, and we concluded that such statements do not contribute the entire process for implementation of the Prespa Agreement,” Katrougalos stated. The Macedonian FM also held a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto, with whom he discussed the matter with the political asylum granted to former Macedonian PM Nikola Gruevski. Dimitrov estimated this case as a challenge for the relations between Macedonia and Hungary, stating that Macedonia will try to have Gruevski extradited in all ways possible.
