The candidate for President of the European Commission, German politician Ursula von der Leyen praised the progress of Macedonia during her address on Thursday at the European Parliament. “We need to approach the West Balkans more seriously, and North Macedonia is one of the brightest examples for a positive progress. This is a great proof that a country can really achieve a lot in a very short period of time when it has a clearly determined goal – the integration in EU,” von der Leyen said. Leyen visited Macedonia back in 2018, as a Minister of Defence of Germany.
