The conclusions of Finland’s EU Presidency didn’t pass at this night’s meeting of Ambassadors in Luxembourg, Telma TV reported on Monday, citing sources from the Macedonian Government with information about developments at the meetings. This means that France’s proposal to give a date for a start of negotiations with Macedonia and, in the meantime, a change of the methodology for negotiations on which France is insistent was rejected and will be debated by FMs on Tuesday in Luxembourg. France supported neither decoupling of Skopje and Tirana nor the Presidency’s proposals. The Netherlands and Denmark, who were reserved about enlargement, are in favour of decoupling. France is adhering to the stand that the manner of negotiations with the Union, which it currently considers to be too technical, should be changed before negotiations with future members are opened.
