Representatives of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM) met Thursday with the delegation of the Mission of OSCE/ODIHR in Macedonia. AJM President Naser Selmani said that both the government and the opposition abuse the current Electoral Law in order to receive public finance for funding their electoral campaigns, thus jeopardising the freedom of the media. “This way of funding will only strengthen the corruptive relations between the media and the political parties, affecting the media’s reporting of the upcoming referendum, or other elections,” Selmani said, calling upon the international institutions to influence the government to change these regulations.
