Interior Ministry Data on Calls and Activities in Three Days Before New Year’s

Over the past three days, the Interior Ministry’s phone for reporting celebrations in bigger groups has been contacted 62 times. On Thursday, police received 22 calls, eight of which were unjustified. Officers entered nine weekend houses, as well as flats in Karpos, Centar, and Cair, which resulted in fines. Among the problems were fights and domestic violence, but the result is only 16 crimes and 13 misdemeanours. According to Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski, New Year’s Eve was peaceful. The State Market Inspectorate controlled 288 hospitality facilities to check whether there was compliance with the measure to close the venues by 6 pm. The most arrogant hospitality sector workers and guests even attacked police officers. Despite the 6 pm measure and ban on bigger groups, around ten citizens ended up in a medical emergency centre. Without serious surgical procedures and any traffic accidents, doctors faced one of the peaceful New Year’s Eves, with the number of injuries seeing a fourfold drop. The young had the worst experience. They drank the most alcohol and ended up at the Toxicology Clinic.
