Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski held an online meeting with the public prosecutors of the offices in Macedonia, reads the statement from the Prosecutor’s Office. The topic of the meeting was the latest report of the State Department on the human rights situation in 2020, which in the part for Macedonia notes exceeding the deadlines for investigations. Public Prosecutor Joveski asked the offices in the country to inspect the cases in which the extension or exceeding of the investigation deadlines was detected in order to determine the reasons for that, as well as the possibilities for overcoming them. According to Joveski, the assessment presented in the State Department Report is unequivocally objective, and the numerous challenges faced by prosecutors in their work must not be a justification for prolonging the proceedings.
