Mijalkov Starts Serving Prison Sentence in Struga

Former Director of the Security and Counterintelligence Department Saso Mijalkov turned himself in at the Struga Prison on Monday, where he is to serve a three-year prison sentence. Mijalkov was one of the defendants in the Empire case, for which he pleaded guilty and reached an agreement with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organised Crime (BPPOOC) for a shorter sentence in exchange for real estates and other assets in total value of around 36 million euros which have been seized by the state. Mijalkov changed his address of residence to Ohrid in order to serve the sentence in Struga Prison which has an outdoor department.
