Opposition Leader Mickoski Says Citizens who Abstained Won at Referendum

VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski addressed citizens following the conclusion of the referendum vote. He said the citizens who abstained from voting have won at the referendum and thus Zaev and his government have been de-legitimised. Regarding PM Zaev’s statements of possible early elections unless DPMNE MPs respect the will of majority of people that voted at the referendum, Mickoski said the referendum was not a battle for early elections. “This was not a battle for early elections. VMRO-DPMNE continues the fight for better life of citizens. Zoran Zaev should not prepare for early elections, but for political retirement,” Mickoski said at the press conference in the party HQ. He said 1.2 million citizens have abstained from voting and thus stated their position against the agreement of Zaev and Tsipras, calling on MPs not to support constitutional amendments as the whole process has been stopped.
