Osmani: Political Stability Needed, Elections Being Hold Almost Every Year

Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani believes that early elections are not needed and that the country needs political stability and predictability. “We are facing important issues both in terms of opportunities and in terms of crises that we need to overcome. Since 2006, the country has been in elections almost every year, whether it is a parliamentary, presidential or local referendum. I think we have not had a single year since 2006 without elections. Elections mean three to four months of paralyzing the system. Add those three to four months in the last 11 years, and those are years lost due to frequent election cycles. Let’s not forget the unpredictability that is created for business, foreign investors,” Osmani said, commenting on the opposition’s request for early parliamentary elections next year.
