Parliament Committee to Discuss Termination of Gruevski’s MP Mandate

Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi has forwarded to the Parliamentary Committee on Rules of Procedure and Mandatory-Immunity Issues the court motion for termination of the MP mandate of former PM and VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski. The motion follows the recent sentencing of Gruevski to 2 years imprisonment after being found guilty in the case “Tank” processed by the Special Public Prosecution (SPO). The President of the Committee Pavle Bogoevski said that the session over the motion will be held in the following 15 days, but gave no precise date. If the Committee endorses the decision to terminate the MP mandate, the Parliament schedules a plenary session. The decision is adopted by a two third majority. Former PM Gruevski is set to report to prison by November 8 at the latest.
