PM Kovacevski: Laws in Our Country Protect Bulgarians Too

PM Dimitar Kovacevski, commenting on the decision of the Council of Europe to reject the demand of official Sofia for the conclusion for North Macedonia to include a declaration for “effective prosecution and condemnation by the government of the crimes of hate,”, said that in North Macedonia all citizens are equal before the laws. “North Macedonia has realised the greatest progress in the field of human rights of all Western Balkan countries aspirants to join the EU. In our country, all citizens are equal before the laws, including those of Bulgarian ethnicity. When it comes to the Bulgarian culture clubs, I believe that they should be places which bring people closer together, and not promote animosity and discord,” PM Kovacevski said, pointing out as good examples the opening of the new premises of the Bulgarian Culture Centre in Skopje, as well as he opening of the press centre of the Media Informative Agency at the Macedonian Culture Centre in Sofia. In meantime, President Stevo Pendarovski said that the existence of Bulgarian culture clubs in the country is not an issue, as long as they are registered and function in accordance with all relevant laws and regulations.
