Session for parliamentary Questions held

The session for parliamentary questions was held on Thursday. As is usually the case, it saw fierce accusations between SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE. According to the opposition party, the letter sent by US Ambassador Jess Baily in which he urges judges not to invoke him when they make court decisions is a scandal. MP Antonijo Milososki asked whether the Government would take measures to look into the case because the Ambassador had notified the State Department, too, before he sent the letter. PM and SDSM leader Zoran Zaev expressed concern over the letter. “Through the Justice Minister and Judicial Council, an investigation will be carried out into who was using the Ambassador’s names to issue decisions and verdicts,” he emphasised. The same day, Parliament’s Legislative Committee adopted the changes to the Criminal Code concerning the reduction of sentences for crimes related to public procurement abuse. The changes mean that defendants may be given a suspended sentence, too. VMRO-DPMNE’s representatives didn’t take part in the Committee’s debate.
