TI: Macedonia 93rd in World according to Corruption Index

In its latest report on corruption, Transparency International (TI) says that Macedonia has made more efforts in the fight against corruption ranking the country on the 93rd place as opposed to 107th a year ago. The report however, also notes that Macedonia still needs to work on the implementation of rule of law, pointing out that the country still lives in a “hybrid regime”. TI also notes that the fact that very little number of countries mark improvement is concerning. Government officials believe that the current rankings of Macedonia by TI are not something to be proud of. “The government conducted numerous reforms so far, making major part of the data about procurements, contracts and other activities public. This is not enough, but it is not up to the government only to increase the level of transparency,” Vice-PM and Defence Minister Radmila Sekerinska commented.
