PM Zoran Zaev believes that the parliament is to adopt a decision for announcing the referendum by 30 July so as it can be held on 30 September. Answering a journalist question, the PM said if needed the referendum is to be organised without opposition VMRO-DPMNE in case talks prove fruitless. According to him, VMRO-DPMNE must clearly present its stand i.e. whether it would boycott the referendum or not so as the public would know. Asked about the possible date, he said the sooner the better as in event of successful referendum up to 120 days are needed for constitutional amendments which in turn would entail ratification of the agreement by the Greek parliament in January or February. As regards the consultative nature of referendum the PM said they had to be flexible as the decision is considered successful if majority of citizens vote in favour and if 50 % plus one voter go out to vote.
